How this doc was built

Stub page. Core concept and founding logic are the author's own worldbuilding (not proposed by GPT — see Thaer's "Post-Yawning blocs" section for the full provenance breakdown). Named "the Protestant Confederation" in the original 2023-07-29 session; "Protestant Confederacy" is the name actually used on the live Empire Map, kept here as the primary name with the earlier one as an alias. Capital, named leadership, and internal politics are deliberately left open.

One of the four Post-Yawning theological empires — and structurally the odd one out. Where the Catholic and Orthodox blocs are described as Empires (a single hierarchy, church-as-state), the Protestant bloc formed as a defensive confederacy — Northern European Protestant states banding together for mutual protection rather than consolidating under one religious hierarchy. Protestantism's own lack of a single central authority (no equivalent to a Pope or Patriarch) makes an "Empire" framing a poor fit; "confederacy" implies something looser: allied, not unified.

Core territory (per the Thaer Empire Map): Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark-Norway, Prussia, Iceland.

Open

  • No seat/capital, named leadership, or governing structure yet — and unlike the other three blocs, it's not obvious this one should have a single named ruler, given the confederate (not imperial) premise. Worth deciding whether it's a council of monarchs, a rotating presidency, or something else entirely.
  • How real internal Protestant sectarian variety (Anglican, Calvinist/Reformed, Lutheran — all present among its member states per the Empire Map's per-country notes) plays out inside one confederacy is unaddressed.
